Accessories are often recommended to help personalize the decor in any room. The trouble is, some of those brand-new accessories can blow a household budget in not time. Fortunately, there is a range of accessories that work in any decor, in any room, and don't cost a fortune, so look for these.

Natural Objects: Natural objects are also called "found" objects. They are often the intriguing things that children bring home to show their parents: branches, seashells, seed pods, dried leaves or stones. Stay alert for them while walking around the neighborhood or on vacation. Arrange them in groups like collectibles or gather them into jars, bowls, baskets or urns or place them on small bamboo rugs arranged on a large coffee table.

Clear Glass: Objects made of clear glass bring instant sparkle to a room. They can be used to display collections, protect precious collectibles or hold candles. They also can be enjoyed simply for their own shape and reflective qualities. Check yard sales, secondhand stores and thrift shops for clear glass domes, cylinders, balls, jars or bowls.

Vintage Metal Floor Lamps: Old industrial lamps of the kind that lit medical offices long ago are useful as well as decorative. Overhead fixtures are often unflattering and not useful for many activities. These lamps don't need to be refurbished or shined up. Their vintage quality brings character to a room.
